out of bed. We start off with the barrage of 'oh damn, here it is
again.....Monday', or 'i don't feel like starting the week off yet', or maybe
even starting Sunday night with something like 'oh man, tomorrow it starts all
over again'.
Could you just for me, re-read the last paragraph. Now
ask yourself, do you identify with any of those thoughts? Do you ever say those
things to yourself on that fated morning, or the night before? Can you remember
when you did that - last night?
Well, if you have read anything that I have written,
you will know that I am big on this idea that 'thoughts become things', and if
you can at all subscribe to that idea, then you should easily be able to
identify this reality - tell yourself your Monday will be bad....And it will
be.
You have to tell yourself that you are going to have a
good day, and not be swayed by your programming. That is really all it is. We
have been programmed to think that mondays are bad. I feel kinda bad for the
day of the week, as it is not Mondays' fault. It just happens that over the
years, we have come to accept that the day that falls after the weekend is
over, has to be the worst. That day is taking our relaxation away. 'If it
weren't for Monday's, I would still be asleep in bed, resting', is normally how
we chastise the day.
Stop that! Stop yourself from thinking that. Remember
"stop points"? The place where you set a flag in your head to stop
stopping yourself from charging into life. If you start the Monday off thinking
about how bad it will be - guess what - it will be. If you would like not to
have a horrible Monday, tell yourself from the moment you get up that fateful
day, that this will be a good day.
Yes, it really is just that simple - you can control a
large part of your day, by simply telling yourself - this will be a good day.
In fact, get out a post-it, and write that phrase on it - this Monday will be a
great day!
Now take that post-it and plaster it on your bathroom
mirror so that the first thing you see in the morning on that Monday, is that
post-it. This tool will help you to remember that this Monday won't be like the
others, and I will consciously make it a good day. That is really the beginning
of the power within. You want to unlock your real potential - stop telling
yourself how bad things will be before they happen.
See, this idea that Mondays are just 'that bad' is
something that has been planted in our heads. It is something that has been
programmed into us over time. You can start the deprogramming, but you must
take some actions to make that happen. This starts with reminding yourself that
Monday's really aren't that bad.
So go ahead......Start right now - tell yourself that
this Monday is not that blue Monday I have thought it was all these years.
Don't stop with the one thought....Repeat it over and over. When you come
across a moment that seems to take you off of that path - stop yourself, and
say again "my Monday is going to be good".
